Structures of the Arab Parliaments: Comparative Study
by Dr. Wassim Harb

The Senate:

The Arab states that have a senate are: Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, Oman, Algiers. While in Lebanon the senate exists in the constitution but it hasn’t been actually formed, till the time being.

We’ve dealt with this subject on the same grounds as the parliament, adopting the same divisions:
1. organizations of the senate,
2. the membership in the senate,
3. the senate's functions,
4. and the senate's meetings.

Then we’ve made an independent comparison table for the cases where both councils (parliament and senate) jointly meet.

We noticed that it’s useful to make a comparison between the parliament and the senate in their different aspects, but we weren’t able to accomplish it, due to lack of time. But the database we talked about earlier will provide this comparison.
